There are so many coding books, which makes it difficult to find out which one is good for you. It helps when you get to read peoples review of the books, and find out what they thought of it. So that you can find out if the book is right for you. And if you don’t want to buy it brand new, it’s nice to be able to buy it used. Thats why I like to use Barnes and Noble to find my books.
So I had some people look at my site and tell me their thoughts of what could possibly change. Some of the feedback I got was I need to add more to my landing page because they thought it had to much empty space. Along with adding small visual icons to the about page and throughout the site. But the most important thing I need to do is spell check my content. But some good things I herd is they like my wording for my contact page.
The most positive feedback is coming from my portfolio page and how easy it is to view my work. And a lot of people like the transitions it does when it switches between selected items.
So here is a glimpse of what my code looks like. I have my meta keywords and descriptions, then followed by all my css that are all external style sheets. I put all my JavaScript and JQuery at the bottom of the body so that when crawlers go through my site they get into the heart of the content without having to go through a bunch of stuff. I also have commented my code so that it is easy for me to read, so that when I want to modified things I know exactly where they are placed in the HTML.
This was my landing page for my portfolio site but I am not satisfied with the navigation because I feel like it needs more, so that there is more contrasting color. Instead of just seeing the off-white background. But I happy overall with the progress of my site.
During class we went to go listen to Patrick Schwerdtfeger speak about creative use of social media. He was a very inspiring speaker that had great advice on how to use social media outlets to make money and stand out from everyone else that uses them. Such as doing podcasts, along with blogging, so that you get your voice out in the world and people can download it. He also talked about how powerful a tool facebook is for reaching your target audience. And creative ways of how to reach customers without spamming them. Overall he was an amazing speaker that helped give me some creative ideas of things I could do to promote myself.
